    Q-binomial Coefficient

    Definition

    The q-binomial coefficient is a q-analog for the binomial coefficient, also called a Gaussian coefficient or a Gaussian polynomial. A q-binomial coefficient is given by [n m]_q congruent (q)_n/((q)_m (q)_(n - m)) = product_(i = 0)^(m - 1) (1 - q^(n - i))/(1 - q^(i + 1)), where (q)_k congruent product_(m = 1)^∞ (1 - q^m)/(1 - q^(k + m)) is a q-series.
