    Makeham Curve

    Definition

    The function defined by y = k s^x b^(q^x) which is used in actuarial science for specifying a simplified mortality law (Kenney and Keeping 1962, pp. 241-242). Using s(x) as the probability that a newborn will achieve age x, the Makeham law uses s(x) = exp(-A x - B(c^x - 1)) for B>0, A>= - B, c>1, x>=0.
