What is ESSA?
During the recent US presidential election, many topics of national interest were debated, and platforms presented, by the candidates. But one topic that arguably received less attention than most was that of national education policy. Rewind the clock to a year earlier however, and there was plenty of attention on national education policy and reform. That's because in December 2015, US President Obama signed into law the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), providing a long-awaited reauthorization of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA), and effectively replacing the much-contested No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act. For a quick reference guide to changes in education policy brought forth by the passing of the ESSA, please refer to the chart below,

The future of US education policy will continue to take shape later this month when the new US president takes office, and Club Z! will be watching carefully to ensure that our programs and services remain aligned with national and state standards. Our goal has always been, and will remain, to help students achieve academic success, improve self-confidence, and increase grades and test scores.
