Surviving (and THRIVING in) Your Freshman Year
If only you knew then what you know now... Just ask any survivor of the ninth grade and they'll tell you the same. Critical things like knowing how to navigate the lunch room, making sure you make the right impression on your teachers, making the grade and for some, the team; if an incoming freshman could somehow magically know all of these things ahead of time, certainly he would fare better, right? Well, that's the hope at least.
Check out these great tips for surviving your first year of high school from the WikiHow web site. Similar to other "wiki" sites, the content can be edited by anyone, but the staff at Club Z! thought this was a great collection of feedback and advice.
But when in doubt, ask another teen! Here are ten more great tips for incoming freshman compiled by the teen editors of Teen Ink.
The bottom line is this - your freshman year doesn't have to be overwhelming. In fact, this can be one of the best times of your life, the start of a new chapter, the place where you'll meet some forever friends, and for others even your forever sweetheart! So get involved. Make new friends. Branch out. Stay true to yourself. Focus and work hard. And remember to enjoy it all - the good, the bad and the ugly - for it only comes once in a lifetime.
