20th ClubZ Tutoring Anniversary: 20 Year Perspective on Teaching Modalities
In case you missed it, we focused our 20 Year Perspective piece on technology talking about how the emergence of the all-powerful Internet impacted and forever changed life as we know it! So it should come as no surprise then that teaching methods, or "modalities" if you're fancy, were also largely impacted by advances in technology 20 years ago.
For parents of today's students, technology is nearly synonymous with education. From going online to check quarter and semester grades, grab assignments, or even hear a lecture from a teacher, to conducting research and submitting work online, technology and e-learning play a major role in today's educational environment. But in the 1990s, when Club Z! began its operations in Tampa, Florida, technology was new and it was cutting-edge to think of all the ways it could assist in the classroom and beyond. As the power and sophistication of computers grew, access to online content increased, and broadband networks emerged, it seems there was a natural information explosion. Students now had new ways to study and learn, incorporating technology into everyday life and the classroom.
Yes, we've come a long way since the 1990s when it comes to teaching modalities. With the emergence of the flipped classroom and other e-learning platforms, it's clear that teaching methods will continue to develop and evolve to meet the needs of modern children and families. In 20 years, who knows where technology can take us and our classrooms?!
